All About Tequilla

Tequila

- an alcoholic liquor distilled from the agave plant in the Tuiquila region of Mexico.

Gold

- tequila made from 100% blue agave, which is the best.

Blanco

- silver or white tequila, very young, hardly aged at all. Has a strong agave flavor.

Anejo

- rich and dark, aged at least one year, usually in used oak barrels from Kentucky from which it picks up a strong flavor that will remind you of a fine bourbon. Excellent in a snifter.

Reposado

- this means rested, usually two to eleven months, no longer. Not as edgy as a blanco, also great by itself.

Mescal

- like tequila, but not tequila. Distilled just once, not twice. This can come from any region in Mexico.
